Computers are classified on various bases such as: -

1. Purpose: -
                    On the bases of purpose the computer is divided into two types first is general purpose computer and another one is special purpose computer.

2. Technology used: -
                                 On the bases of technology used the computer is divided into three types these are as follows.

     a. Analog Computer
     b. Digital Computer
     c. Hybrid Computer

3. Size and Capacity: -
                                  On the bases of size and capacity the computer is divided into four types these are as follows.

     a. Super Computer
     b. Mainframe Computer
     c. Mini Computer
     d. Micro Computer

4. History: -
                   On the bases of history the computer is divided into five types these are as follows.

     a. First generation Computer
     b. Second generation Computer
     c. Third generation Computer
     d. Fourth generation Computer
     e. Fifth generation Computer
