Evolution
of Microprocessor
The first microprocessor was Intel 4004, a 4-
bit P-MOS (positive metal oxide semiconductor) was introduced in the year of
1971, after that Intel 4040 enhanced version of Intel 4004 was developed
simultaneously some other company also developed 4-bit microprocessor like
Rockwell international, Toshiba-T3472, Toshiba TTC. In 1972 Intel introduced
the first 8-bit microprocessor i.e., 8008 which is also P-MOS technology. In
1973 Intel introduced its 8080 microprocessor. Other manufacturer also
simultaneously using 8-bit microprocessor like Zilog 80 (z80) and z800,NSC 800
(national semiconductor), MC 6800 (Motorola), etc.
